Task

The Axel Springer Plug and Play Accelerator works with 10 startups at a time to establish and grow their digital businesses. After 3 months, participating teams get the chance to present their business idea to an audience of 250 investors.

Result

PEAK designed the training program to help the participating startup founders develop a polished, 5-minute investor pitch. Since 2014, more than 100 startups have passed through the accelerator’s training program. At least half of them received a follow-on investment valued at more than €2 million.

The Axel Springer Plug and Play Accelerator is the result of a partnership between German publishing house Axel Springer and the Silicon Valley-based Plug and Play Tech Center. Three times a year, a select handful of startups enter the accelerator program and gain access to capital, coaching and a massive network.

From day one, the startups are given a variety of opportunities to pitch to investors as well as guests and partner companies. This is why PEAK is there right from the second day onward, beginning with a communications strategy kick-off workshop, followed by weekly training sessions on public pitching, stage performance and delivery, plus one-on-one coaching to solidify the messages step-by-step.

All throughout, the entrepreneurs receive constant feedback they use to iterate their ideas strategically. This lively communication culture is key for the teams to quickly take their businesses to the next level.
